Thank you for another day to try and get things right. I am grateful for my cat and my wonderful friends. Thank you for placing them in my life. You know what I need before I even need it.

After decades of passive wishing, you have finally made me a morning person. I give thanks that I am able to greet you with the dawn, even if I sometimes go to sleep again afterwards. Watching the sky come to life feels like I’m accompanying you through creation.

Thank you for newness. You are reawakening and restoring parts of my life I thought were over with. Not only are your mercies new every morning, but you can restore the years the locusts have eaten. I am grateful and ask for your guidance in growing and maturing.

Thank you for waking me up, I know there are some that won’t get up this morning and I don’t want to take it for granted that I’ve been blessed with another day. With a feeling of happy anticipation, I wonder what new mercies I will encounter from you this day.

Thank you for letting me sleep in today. Your grace is always there for me when I need it. I am grateful for the bright shining son this morning, and the presence of you Son every morning. I pray your Son continues to illuminate everything in my life.

Thank you for letting me talk to you like a friend; I don’t need special words or rituals to approach you. Thank you for truly being my best friend, not just an all-powerful God in a distant heaven. My communion with you is the sweetest thing in life. It’s amazing to read in your word that you love me even more than I love you. Thank you for your unconditional love.

Thank you for this glorious day. Help me to make the most of it. When I open the curtains to my window I bask in the morning light with hope and expectation. Thank you so much for blessing me with that positive and energetic outlook. It would be so easy to grumble, roll over and pull the covers over my head. But you have given me a spirit that wants to greet the day with a smile and I am grateful.

Thank you for reaching through space and time and sin and doubt to save me. It is glorious simply to be in your presence. Bless me so that I may always commune with you oh Lord.
